Timothy Stringer
For over 45 years I've been creating art. It started with doodles, then a serious interest in drawing. I eventually explored painting in both oil and acrylic. And then I discovered photography.
Photography is a passion and I hope it shows in the photographs I take. Currently I am focused on abstract photography, where form, texture, and color combine to delight the senses with a visual treat. Whenever I travel, at least one camera always goes with me. I look for the out of way and unusual for my travel photos. I certainly won't pass up the well known if I can make it different and unique. I'm a firm believer in photographs are made, not taken. Given a opportunity I will take the odd wildlife photograph but I rarely actively seek out wildlife.
I offer framed open edition photographs which I select a higher quality archival paper than other artwork I offer. I feel a heavier 17 mil paper does justice to a photograph.
As a painter I currently lean more towards abstract. In my younger days I explored landscapes and the odd animal subject. Abstract I feel lets me explore alternative views and are creatively more challenging.
I spent years working as a graphic designer to support my art habit. I utilize those skills in graphic design to enhance and restore photos of vintage art. I then work them into what I call museum/exhibition style posters, including the original artist's name, the title, the medium, and year completed. I may spend only a few minutes on a photo or I could spend hours. In each case I present a high definition image that is printed on either canvas or archival grade art paper.
